How a UPI QR code works
A UPI QR code contains a standard upi://pay link with your UPI ID (also called a VPA, like yourname@okaxis). When a customer scans it with Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM or any other UPI app, the payment screen opens with your name already filled in — they enter the amount, confirm with their PIN, and the money lands in your bank account instantly.
You can also lock a fixed amount into the code — useful for fixed-price products, parking fees, tickets or donations where every payment is the same.
Setting up your shop payment QR
- Enter the UPI ID exactly as shown in your UPI app — one wrong character sends money elsewhere, so always test with a small payment first.
- Print at least 10 × 10 cm for a counter stand so customers can scan from a comfortable distance.
- Laminate it or print on synthetic sticker paper — counter QR codes take daily wear.
- Make a sheet of identical codes for multiple counters with our QR code sticker maker.
Frequently asked questions
Which apps can scan this UPI QR code?
Every UPI app — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, Amazon Pay and all bank UPI apps — because the code uses the standard upi://pay format defined by NPCI.
Is it safe to display my UPI QR publicly?
Yes. A payment QR can only receive money into your account; it cannot withdraw anything. Never share codes or screens that ask you to enter your PIN to "receive" money — receiving never requires a PIN.
Can I change the amount later?
If you leave the amount field empty, customers enter any amount at payment time. If you fixed an amount, just generate a new free code with the new price.
